By Conan Lea - Voluta Tattoo
This piece was designed for a young lady who would spend more than ten years in higher education achieving a tremendously hard degree. It was her gift to herself for being awarded her PhD in molecular biology with a focus on DNA.
Since the wearer of this tattoo is quite the pinup girl herself, it was loads of fun to use the features from classic pinup style paintings and weave in her own beauty and personality. We added in the classic symbols of the biology world, including beakers, test tubes, and a lab coat, and finally decided this pinup wouldn't be complete without thigh-highs and those scorching red heels. We even added some microtouch details, stitching the wearer's last initial and title--Dr. D--on the lab coat pocket. This piece has come to be known as the Rosie the Riveter of the DNA lab, and is a favorite among smart, hard-working, well-educated females.
