This in progress work of a samurai mask, maple leaves, peonies, dahlias, and a severed sneak head really shows the power of designing with archs and flow patterns. I try to set the viewer’s eye in motion with the direction things look like they are moving in. I love the challenge of using a static image to portray movement, and the fun part is a tattoo in many ways is in continual motion wether the person’s body is moving or even on a microscopic and time lapse level, the cells around the pigment are continually regenerating causing tiny shifts in the pigment… what a cool thought.
